50 Years Celebratory Congress

Finnish Association of Orthopaedic Manual Therapy

Finnish Association of Orthopaedic Manual Therapy (Suomen Ortopedisen Manuaalisen terapian Yhdistys, SOMTY) has promoted and supported Orthopaedic Manual Therapy since 1969. The association aims to raise standards of education and practice in the field of Neuromusculoskeletal Physical Therapy, and to facilitate communication and information exchange within the field internationally and with other health professions and the general public. Finnish Association of Orthopaedic Manual Therapy also provides courses and education on Neuromusculoskeletal Physical Therapy, varying from one day courses to post-graduation specialisation program of 2,5 years.

Neuromusculoskeletal Physical Therapy is a specialised area of physiotherapy that focuses on evaluation of physical performance and management and prevention of neuromusculoskeletal conditions while encompassing the biopsychosocial framework of each individual patient. It’s based on clinical reasoning, using patient education and highly specific treatment approaches including manual techniques and therapeutic exercises.

To celebrate the 50 years of Finnish Orthopaedic Manual Therapy, we are proud to present the Celebratory Congress, held in Helsinki Finland from 22nd to 24th of August 2019. The celebratory congress presents several international and local speakers. The Congress in executed fully in English. We welcome our colleagues from all around the world to join our celebration!


Congress program

We start on Thursday evening with reception of The Helsinki City at the Empire Room of the Bock's house, and continue on Friday and Saturday with fascinating presentations from highly praised professionals at Marina Congress Center.

We are honored and humbled to announce The President Tarja Halonen, the 11th President of Finland, will give the opening speech on Friday. 

On Friday evening the attendees have opportunity to join Celebratory Dinner with delicious food and entertainment.

You can also expand your Congress experience by attending pre- and post-courses from our international speakers. These courses are provided with lower price to those also attending the Congress.

The early bird price is 515 € 
For members of IFOMPT-organisations and students 415 €

After the first of May 2019 the price rises to 650 €
and to 515 € for students and members.


The Evening Dinner on Friday is 90 € per person.

The Greeting Reception of Helsinki City on Thursday is free for Congress Attendees and there is room for fist 100 participants. Please reserve your place beforehand if you want to attend.


The price includes lunches at the venue.
